The Washington Capitals and the rest of the NHL unveiled the Reverse Retro Jersey Collection earlier this week. We’ve checked the jersey here and broken it down overall here, but our work doesn’t stop there to talk about the greatness of this jersey.
There has been speculation for months that the caps will get a new kit for the season, and those rumors have turned into teasers from adidas. When these teasers came out we knew what the color scheme would look like and lo and behold, the return of the screaming eagle happened. Here are three reasons we love the jersey.
The screaming eagle on the jersey is a nod to the past. From 1995 to 2007 that was the look of their jerseys. You will wear these beauties to a whole host of games. The jersey shows the famous bald eagle that caps fans will recognize for a long time. The eagle tumbles down with an outstretched open claw with the word CAPITALS on the bottom.
In particular, this jersey pays homage to the 1997-98 Caps team that rode up to their first Stanley Cup pre-crash final.
