Washington State opened the season with eight straight wins. These came against Texas Southern, East Washington, Oregon State, Idaho, Portland State, Montana State, Prairie View, and Northwestern State. Since then it’s been a win against Cal between losing to Arizona and Stanford.
In the 75:60 loss to the Cardinal on Saturday, Washington State’s Andrej Jakimovski scored 19 points with three rebounds, and Isaac Bonton scored 18 points with seven assists and three rebounds. Tony Miller was also in the double digits with 11 points and eight boards.
On the UCLA side, they opened with a loss to SDSU before winning the next five games in a row. The Bruins then lost 77-70 to Ohio State, but have won four straight times since then. Those victories went over Utah, Colorado, Arizona State and Arizona 81-76 on Saturday.
In defeating the Wildcats, UCLA’s Tyger Campbell scored 22 points with two rebounds and two assists. Johnny Juzang added 16 points with an assist and two rebounds while Jaime Jaquez added 13 points with nine boards and an assist for the Bruins.
The Bruins are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine home games and 13- 3-1 ATS in their last 17 after a direct win. UCLA has 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games on Thursday and 4-1 in their last five games total.
Meanwhile, the Cougars have 7-17-1 ATS in their last 25 street games and in their last four after a direct 4-0 ATS loss. The end is 6-0 in Washington State’s last six street games and 5-1 in their last six games overall.
PICK: I like UCLA here. However, this should be a pretty good matchup. UCLA has had good results lately, scoring 72 or more points in three of their last four games. The Bruins have also given many points to quality teams, with 70 or more allowed in four of their last five. Washington State has a pretty solid offense of its own and we should have a reasonably high-scoring game here, but I like it when UCLA pulls out a cover at some point. Should be fun to watch.
